The VIVA 420 is one of the most productive intermittent-feed presses on the market. The press uses the advantages of the intermittent for short make ready combined with a larger print width and higher speed to answer needs on long runs.
The VIVA 420 is fully-servo-driven press, so that many features can be automated, and optimizes all set-up operation.
The VIVA 420 combines the advantages of intermittent feed technologies with the productivity of rotary presses:
Without format depending tools the adjustments to go from one job to another are minimal and therefore set up time and waste are minimized.

Format changes are performed without changing any cylinders. Printing plates are mounted quickly onto the press without any tooling.
Changes are entirely electronic. The pre-register position is displayed on every unit depending on format. Unit positioning is motorized and controlled locally or from the central control panel. Pre-positioning is done at press stop without waste.
As an example, for a repeat length close to 325 mm (13”), the VIVA420 allows a production speed up to 60m/min (180fpm) i.e. a production capacity of 1500 m2 (2350 msi/h) thanks to the web width of 420 mm (16” ½).
The VIVA 420 uses the last generation of servo control developed by B&R Automation. The machine is built around a simple architecture with independent print unit communicating through a high speed bus. This network system allows a higher flexibility and an access to all the system components, making diagnosis much simpler.
